artist-at-large.com is about art, culture and travel. Good for both the trip researcher and armchair traveler, you will find travel stories, travel information, quirky survey questions, photos of the day, and listings for exhibitions and open studios and events in each region on the site. The stories and information presented on the site are written in a way that are meant to be valuable over a long period of time, like an art or travel magazine or guidebook that you keep by your desk and flip through when you need information, or just want to daydream. The site also fosters online art education in its ArtStudio and promotes artists from around the world in The Artist Directory.

Slide Packet
When you contact a gallery for the purpose of finding possible representation or an exhibition, how do you approach them? What materials do you send? Slides? A CD? A web site address? Do you use snailmail or email? Is it all just a mystery?
In these days of ever-changing media and high tech, each gallery is different. Besides their different goals and different expectations, what works well for approaching one does not work well for another.
Slide Packet is hoping to demystify the process of contacting galleries and sending your work to them. Here you will find a list of galleries who were happy to provide us with answers to our most pertinent questions.
To access the interviews, you must be a member of The Artist Directory:
If you are an Artist Directory member and have lost the password for the interviews, please email kimba AT artist-at-large DOT com and ask me to resend it.
If you are a gallery and would like to participate in Slide Packet, let me know and I’ll send you an interview/questionnaire by email.
Side Street Projects in Pasadena, California did a similar project in podcast form. Click here to go to their site for a listen of their series, What Do Curators Want?
