artist-at-large.com is about art, culture and travel. Good for both the trip researcher and armchair traveler, you will find travel stories, travel information, quirky survey questions, photos of the day, and listings for exhibitions and open studios and events in each region on the site. The stories and information presented on the site are written in a way that are meant to be valuable over a long period of time, like an art or travel magazine or guidebook that you keep by your desk and flip through when you need information, or just want to daydream. The site also fosters online art education in its ArtStudio and promotes artists from around the world in The Artist Directory.

About
The Artist Directory was created by an artist for artists because, well, you can never have too much exposure. We are committed to showing the best of the work that is submitted to the site. We aren’t looking to be the largest directory on the web, but we want to be considered one of the best artist directories on the web.
Because of that, the directory is curated. We are by no means limited in the work we accept. We will look at everything and consider it thoroughly.
What kind of work do we like?
Contemporary, professional, gallery standard, fine art work in all media – painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, mixed-media, installation, video, performance, digital fine arts, and urban/grafitti/pochoir. We are not regional, which means we will accept work from anywhere in the world. From that angle, we have no respect for borders and politics and want to expose our readers to art they many not otherwise have a chance to see.
The work represented here on the site must visually represent a strong body of work and the commitment of the artist.
By contemporary, we mean work that is not only representative of the art of today, but also work that is pushing the boundaries and definition of what contemporary art is, whether that is exhibited by subject matter or technique, or materials used.
The Artist Directory isn’t for everyone. But send in your work and I’ll see if you’re a match!
Have a look through other artists’ profiles to get a feel for where we’re going.
How does The Artist Directory work?
The Blog:
The main part, and most important part, of The Artist Directory is the group blog. It’s how we get the news out! Everyone has their own login so that they can post when they have news.
What can be posted in the blog? Exhibition announcements, career highlights, painting/photo-a-day, new work … The more Artist Directory members post to the blog, the more often their work will be seen by the artist-at-large.com audience. Blog posts also get pushed to twitter and to the artist-at-large.com page on Facebook.
Each Member of The Artist Directory gets one Profile Page with:
And:- Ability to post their own exhibition, studio (new work, work of the day, etc), and professional (grants, commissions, or jobs received) announcements in the Artist Directory blog. Unlimited number of posts. Bilingual posts encouraged. All posts will be edited for English grammar.
- Art related blogs hosted on other domains listed in the “Blogroll” in the links area underneath the gallery images.
- Access to the password protected Slide Packet interviews and articles.
You keep 100% of all sales made from being found here! It is not our intention to interfere with artist/gallery relationships. The Artist Directory is a place for you to list your work and links to your web sites, and create blog entries, so that gallery owners, collectors, buyers, and voyeurs can see your work.
The Artist Directory and artist-at-large.com run on California and dot.com time, Monday through Friday, approximately, 10am – 7pm, approximately. If you sign-up for The Artist Directory over the weekend, your page and listing may not be added until Monday morning.
