FIGURE PAINTING IN CONTEXT: INVENTING A NARRATIVE
This class will be offered at the Berkeley City College in Berkeley, California.
You have a great idea and a willing model but how do you put the two together? Is it day, is it night? Is it indoors, is it out? Is the mood tragic or comic, somber or light?
The figure is a loaded subject which has been used throughout history to explain the human condition through story and myth. We will explore modes of narration using art history, the world around us, and personal experience as reference. Emphasis will be on invention, risk-taking and personal exploration.
This semester class is offered at Berkeley City College, in Berkeley, California.
