artist-at-large.com is about art, culture and travel. Good for both the trip researcher and armchair traveler, you will find travel stories, travel information, quirky survey questions, photos of the day, and listings for exhibitions and open studios and events in each region on the site. The stories and information presented on the site are written in a way that are meant to be valuable over a long period of time, like an art or travel magazine or guidebook that you keep by your desk and flip through when you need information, or just want to daydream. The site also fosters online art education in its ArtStudio and promotes artists from around the world in The Artist Directory.

Caroline Wampole: Altered Book-Making Workshops
This is a special holiday class which I will be teaching in my studio on the following dates. You can come to whichever date or dates you wish – each class is a self-contained workshop.
This December 2009
Tuesday: December 15th from 6 pm to 9 pm
Thursday: December 17th from 6 pm to 9 pm
Saturday: December 19th from 10 am to 1 pm
Location
The Art Explosion
2425 17th Street
San Francisco CA 94110
During each three-hour session, we will be making “altered books” – taking old hardcover books and altering them through cutting, collage, painting, pen and ink, crayon, you name it. This is a fascinating process, and one of the most fun, freeing art projects I have ever done. The result will be a one-of-a-kind art object for you to keep, or as a very special gift for someone else.
Fee is a reduced rate of $35 per person, per class, which includes all materials (old books, glue, collage pieces, etc). You can make one book over three sessions, or several books in one session, it’s up to you. You are encouraged to bring any materials or books which you’d like to work with (you can find old cheap books at yard sales, bookstores, or probably on your bookshelf). Hardcover is best.
Space is VERY limited, as there are only 4 spots for each class. Please let me know as soon as you can if you are interested and i will reserve you a spot for the date or dates you wish.
